Representation is the culmination of 18 months’ work between artist Oliver Pengilley and musician Jim Pooley. Representation takes us on a journey of spiritual discovery as Oliver paints more than twenty pictures that become ‘one piece of art’. Complementing the visual art, and completing the experience is the equally inspired original score written and performed by Jim.
Representation comprises six animations, two picture slideshows, interviews with Oliver and Jim and a full soundtrack download when played on a Mac/PC.
Representation premiered in March 2008 at ‘Spring Harvest’, (an event held annually for three weeks at Butlins in Minehead and Skegness). 6,000 people saw the first screening of one of the animations. Over the space of two weeks, around 15,000 people saw one or more of the animations either in ‘the big top’ seated tent or in the exhibition area. Since then, Representation has continued to attracted more attention with copies now circulating in the UK, Europe, USA, Canada and New Zealand. Representation has also been shown at various conferences and festivals including ‘New Wine’ and ‘Detling’.
